IELTS Writing Tasks Overview 

You will have to complete 3 tasks on the IELTS Writing. In Academic writing - Task 1, you are required to explain and describe a visual piece like a chart, graph, table, map or process in a clear and objective manner without using personal opinions or personal pronouns. General Training Writing - Task 1 It is a situation based letter that you write to anyone, such as a manager or authority, and is generally, an explanation of a problem, a request or a suggestion of how to do things. Writing - Task 2 is identical in Academic and General Training and involves writing an essay in response to a stated viewpoint, argument or a problem. 

IELTS Reading 

Academic and General also differ in the IELTS Reading test. In Academic Reading, it helps to evaluate your reading skills at a university level (a lecture, research paper, etc.) and discusses topics such as archaeology and biology, as well as discoveries like space. At times, some of the passages may be new, and this is natural, however, the focus is on the understanding of ideas and arguments and not on challenging subject knowledge. On the other hand, General Training Reading is more realistic, as it reflects real-life reading. It mainly contains brief factual texts that you read daily, including advertisements, notices, brochures, and timetables, along with information related to the workplace, including job descriptions, staff policies, and training manuals. 

IELTS Listening  

Listening module is applied to determine your understanding of spoken English in the real life situations. The four recording will involve conversation, and monologues that will encompass the social life and the scholarly setting. These may be conversations between people, short chats or longer descriptions as you might have listened in college or in everyday life. Based on these recordings, you will respond to 40 questions that will assess your ability to follow ideas, to distinguish the key details and understand the overall meaning and purpose of what is being said. 

IELTS Speaking  

Speaking Module is a face-to-face interview with a certified examiner and takes approximately 11 to 14 minutes. It is made to evaluate the clarity and confidence with which you can speak English. Initially, the test starts with questions of well-known subjects like work, studies, or everyday life. This is then preceded by a brief cue card exercise where you talk on a specified subject matter in a span of two minutes or so. In the last section, the examiner poses deeper questions pertaining to the cue card topic to test whether you can convey ideas, articulate views and communicate abstract issues.
