The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is one of the world's most widely accepted entrance exams for MBA and business master's programs. The GMAT is an analytical, quantitative, verbal, and data interpretation test administered by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) that assesses the skills that business schools look for in their applicants. GMAT scores are accepted by more than 2,400 business schools in more than 110 countries. The 2026 GMAT is divided into three sections, each of which is equally important: Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights. The exam is more flexible than ever before, with candidates being able to attempt these sections in any order. There are 64 questions in total and candidates are given the opportunity to go back and change up to three answers in each section if time allows. No negative marking and an optional 10 minute break may be taken after either the first or second section.

GMAT Eligibility Criteria
There are no strict academic eligibility requirements for taking the GMAT. The age of the candidates is generally 18 years. The age of the applicant can be between 13 and 17 years with parental consent. While GMAC does not mandate a bachelor's degree, most universities that accept GMAT scores will require that students have an undergraduate degree before they can attend an MBA or business master's program. The GMAT is offered five times in a rolling 12-month period and up to eight times in a lifetime. GMAT scores are valid for 5 years.

GMAT Registration Process
The GMAT registration process is easy and online. Candidates must register on mba.com, fill in their personal details as per their passport, indicate whether they want to appear for the exam at a test centre or online, select the date and venue of the exam, pay the exam fee and get confirmation of their exam appointment. The exam is recommended to be booked at least two to three months prior to the university application deadlines to get the desired slot.

GMAT Fees in India
The GMAT exam fee is around USD 275 for test centre and USD 300 for online exam for candidates appearing in India in 2026. The Indian Rupee equivalent will be subject to the prevailing exchange rate and taxes. Rescheduling, canceling, and sending score reports to additional universities will incur additional charges.
