D2L Brightspace Setup Guide
Brightspace supports LTI 1.3 ("LTI Advantage"). You need a Brightspace administrator and a PrepareBuddy organization administrator.
1. Register the tool in Brightspace
- Admin Tools → Manage Extensibility → LTI Advantage → Register Tool → Standard.

- Register. Brightspace then shows the Client ID, Brightspace Keyset URL, OAuth2 Access Token URL, OpenID Connect Authentication Endpoint and Issuer.
- View Deployments → New Deployment: choose PrepareBuddy, tick Security Settings Name, Email and Org Unit Information, choose the org units that may use it, and Create Deployment. Note the Deployment ID.
- On the deployment, add a link of type Deep Linking Quicklink with URL
https://www.preparebuddy.com/lti/deep-link/.
2. Register Brightspace in PrepareBuddy
Copy the values from step 1.3 and the Deployment ID into /lti/manage/ → LTI 1.3 · step 2.
3. Teachers add a test, quiz or assessment
In Content, Existing Activities → PrepareBuddy; pick one in the PrepareBuddy picker. Brightspace creates the grade item.
LTI 1.1
Brightspace still accepts LTI 1.1 through External Learning Tools: create an LTI 1.1 key on /lti/manage/, add a Tool Provider with Launch Point https://www.preparebuddy.com/lti/launch/ and the key and secret, allow sending name and email, then add links using each link URL from /lti/manage/.
