Run a Test Plan
Once a plan is started there is nothing to schedule by hand. This page explains what the plan does on its own, what you see, and the buttons you have when you want to step in.
How the next test is chosen
Only the next test exists at any time. It is decided when the previous test's result is final, or when you save a change, skip, resume, or press Open it today.
- Baseline first. The plan starts with a full mock. Until a full mock counts, the next test is another full mock.
- Full mocks and gap tests alternate. Between two full mocks comes a skills check — the student's weakest section on its own — or, when the student is at target, a challenge test on a harder unseen paper.
- The pace line. From the first counted mock, the plan draws a straight line to the target (plus a small margin) on the last test day. A student whose recent mocks sit clearly below it is behind.
- Pace. On Automatic, a student who is behind, or not improving, is tested every 4 days; a student at target in every section every 10 days (with challenge papers); everyone else every 7.
- The final stretch. Every test in the last two weeks before the last test day is a full mock.
- The last test day is three days before the exam (or the day before the enrolment ends, if that is earlier). No test is ever due after it.
Every decision comes with a reason in plain words — for example "4-day pace: 0.6 band behind your pace line" — shown on the plan page and in the student's notice.
The plan page
Open it from the student's Manage panel (Open plan) in Student Management.
- Header — target, exam date, pace and why, and the status: Awaiting baseline, On pace, At risk, or Light (at target).
- Trend — Overall and By-section charts with the pace line.
- Next test — what it is, when it opens and is due, why it was chosen, and the dates expected after it.
- Tests — every test with its dates, state, scores and paper.
- Practice — the plan's practice drills and how far the student has got.
- Change the plan — target, exam date, pace, timezone, section minimums and the practice-drills switch. A change re-decides a test that has not opened yet; a test that is already open keeps its day.
- Recipients, Official exam result, and Plan controls.
Buttons
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Open it today | The next test opens now instead of on its date |
| Skip | Skips the next test (waiting or started) and decides a new one. A started attempt is left alone; its result is shown later but not counted |
| Pause the plan / Resume the plan | Pause cancels the waiting test; Resume decides a new one from today |
| Close the plan | Ends the plan. History and results are kept; a test in progress can still be finished |
| Save changes | Saves the plan's settings |
| Save recipients | Saves who receives emails |
| Record and close the plan | Records the official exam result and closes the plan |
The Test plans page
The Test plans button lists every student on a plan in your organisation — exam, target, latest result, mocks taken, status and next test — so you can see who is at risk at a glance.
Emails and alerts
| Who gets it | When | |
|---|---|---|
| Your test is open | The student | 08:00 local time on the day the test opens |
| Result — counted, skills check, challenge, incomplete or grading failed | Recipients | When the result is final |
| Result changed after it was available | Recipients | Once, if scores change later (a re-mark) |
| At risk | Recipients | A counted mock puts the student behind their pace line |
| No improvement | Recipients | After four or more counted mocks, the last three have not moved the student on — the pace also switches to every 4 days |
| Missed | Recipients | Two days after a due date, if the test was not submitted |
| Action needed: no paper left | Recipients | No unseen paper is left for the next test |
The student also gets an in-app notice for each new test: "Next SAT test (Full mock) opens Fri 16 Oct, due Thu 22 Oct — Dubai time."
SAT results show each section with its Module 2 route (harder or easier).
Tests nobody has taken
A plan test never expires. If the student has not submitted by two days after the due date, the recipients get one Missed email; the test stays open for the student, and you can Skip it.
Assigning other tests
Keep assigning tests as usual. If you assign a student the exact paper their plan is keeping for its next test, the plan moves its test to a different unseen paper straight away and tells you so on the page. The student's links and emails keep working.
